Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Garowe
Job Description:
The Project Manager will be responsible for leading project planning and managing the team responsible for the project’s delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both construction and management. The Project Manager’s role will be split between project sites and the office. The candidate must be organized and well versed in schedule planning, overseeing construction projects, reporting, working closely with engineers, construction supervisors, contractors and liaising with key stakeholders. Ultimately the Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring work is planned, organized, directed and coordinated to achieve project goals and the best outcome for Amal Real Estate and Construction.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Oversee construction projects (including but not limited to buildings, infrastructure, new plant equipment)
- Interpret architectural drawings, plans, specifications and written instructions and comply with project specifications to estimate and complete works
- Collaborate with the project team to determine the specifications of the project
- Prepare comprehensive construction plan and reports
- Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
- Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
- Define tasks and plan for the required resources
- Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
- Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
- Assembling and leading project teams
- Reporting and documentation of project activities and progress
- Monitor and evaluate project plans and report on progress of construction works against timeframes, budget and project scope
- Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
- Assisting HR with the hiring process of contractors, other staff and the allocation of responsibilities
- Engage and work closely with all sub-contractors to ensure all works performed are in line with project plans, standards and company requirements
- Supervise the work of the project team and give them guidance when needed
- Present project critical analysis reports to stakeholders
- Ensure projects meet Amal Real Estate and Construction quality standards
- Ensure full adherence to all health and safety standards and ensure hazard identification, risk assessments and control measures are in place
Skills and Qualifications
- Must have a Master’s degree in Project Management/ Construction Management/Engineering
- Minimum of 10 year’s experience in Construction with a minimum of 5 years in Project Management
- In-depth understanding of construction procedures, material and project management principles
- Ability to prepare comprehensive construction plans
- Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- A team player with high level leadership capability
- Training and proficiency in project management software tools
- Professional report writing skills
- Strong project management abilities
- Confidence to thrive under pressure
- Professional demeanor and attitude
