Job Description

The Somali Humanities Relief Action (SHRA) is one of the National Non-Governmental Organizations registered and working in Somalia. It is non- political, non-religious and non-profit making organization focusing on participation and partnerships thus contributing to the relief of human suffering by offering appropriate solutions to the humanitarian catastrophe in Somalia.

About the Project:          

The PRMN (Protection & Return Monitoring Network) is a UNHCR-led project which acts as a platform for identifying and reporting on displacements (including returns) of populations in Somalia as well as protection incidents underlying such movements.

SHRA had been partnering with NRC on PRMN Project since late 2019 to date, and currently implementing PRMN Program covering in Northern Gedo districts (Luuq,Dolo&Beled-Hawa)and is looking an ideal innovative person to fill up the advertised post.

Generic responsibilities:

  1. Ensure compliance with SHRA & NRC policies, guidelines, and standards
  2. Ensure compliance with protection strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines, and standards
  3. Carry out Protection Return Monitoring Network (PRMN) and other protection activities, including project documentation and monitoring and evaluation
  4. Assess, promote, and document ideas for improvement and further protection programming,
  5. Ensure that protection interventions target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  6. Support the program and support teams to ensure protection is integrated/mainstreamed within program cycle management.
  7. Monitor the population displacements and movements such as returns by targeting strategic points including transit sites, established IDP settlements, border crossings and other ad hoc locations.
  8. Use appropriately the interviews through carefully with the use of a standardized form that is designed to capture information on displacements and protection incidents and in the case of household-level reports, this includes disaggregated demographic data and family vulnerabilities. During the interview, both the point of departure and reason for departure are recorded; sensitive personal information is not stored.
  9. Make sure that reports are uploaded onto a web-based platform, through which they are quality-controlled by NRC. Reports are also verified prior to approval by NRC field staff, either in person or through third party verification.
  10. Refer the serious protection incidents to the Referral services and basic emergency support providers

Skills &Qualifications:

  • We are looking for a diploma in the following fields; in law, social science, development studies, sociology and other related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience with NGO, legal or international organization in the area of protection.
  • Experience from working with protection projects in a humanitarian/recovery context. Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Fluency in Somali and English, both written and verbal.
  • We are particularly looking for a positive individual with strong communication skills, who can build trust and confidently navigate both internally and externally at different levels.
