ADMIN & FINANCE OFFICER
HIMILO – GAROWE
Company Summary:
Himilo MFI is a financial institution that provides micro-lending services to economically disadvantaged and low-income households, small-scale entrepreneurs, particularly women and youth, and start-up firms that would not have access to such services otherwise. It arose from the goal to enhance the quality and accessibility of financial services offered to poor and unbanked Somalis. It delivers products and services complying with Sharia law. Himilo’s main office is located in Garowe, Puntland, Somalia.
General Position Summary:
Admin & finance officer is responsible for assisting the CEO with things pertaining to financial accounting, internal control, administration, and human resources, as well as serving as a liaison for the company’s external communications with partners, vendors, and customers. It entails assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures and ensuring their implementation and compliance. Initiate and direct administrative and HR operations in conjunction with the business operations of the company.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and maintain an adequate system to facilitate accurate recording and Reporting of all financial data.
- Ensure compliance of all policies.
- Analyze and circulate of budget versus actual & Cash flow forecasted Vs Actual Spending on monthly basis and when required.
- Prepare monthly progress, quarter and yearly financial reports.
- Liaise with external partners, vendors, and vendors.
- Develop and manage revenue assurance practices & procedures, repair revenue leakage.
- Oversea the preparation and presentation of company’s financial statement.
- Organize, document and archive relevant documentation, keep files complete and up to date and maintain quality and accessibility of archive and files, confirm administrative procedures and filing procedures as laid down in Internal Control Framework (ICF) and in line with audit compliance.
- Detect and act upon fraud and initiate preventive measures.
- Manage collections processes and operations.
- Conduct monthly payroll management procedures.
- Carry out periodic financial closing.
- Consolidate financial information and prepare financial statements.
- Ensure compliance to reporting standards.
- Oversea company’s operational activities including logistics and customer/vendors arrangements.
- Liaise with auditing function, external auditors, government auditors and regulatory authorities.
- Establish contacts for investors & analysts, report relevant data & address data requests.
- Lead the development of an effective Finance function by managing financial performance and adhering to documented policies, procedures and processes and KPIs
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge
- Experience in leading the financial management of an organization.
- Depth knowledge in accounting and reporting systems such as QuickBooks and/or other ERP systems, and advanced excel knowledge.
- Experience and training in business analyst tools.
- Good understanding of reporting and implementation of IFRS.
- Good understanding of cost optimization methodologies, cost accounting, financial control and audit, and fraud detection and revenue assurance policies and procedures
Minimum Entry Qualifications
- 3 years’ experience in Finance with a minimum 2 years related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or similar qualification from a reputable university, MBA / master’s degree preferable
- A Partly qualified or a member of professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, etc.) is preferable.
- Superb leadership, communication, and collaboration abilities.
- Proficient and fluent in spoken and written Somali & English Language
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good IT skills are preferred.
Environmental Conditions
This position is based in Garowe, Puntland – Somalia, and is unaccompanied. Himilo team members represent the company during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit to a field posting.
